09 - Red, green, and white food coloring

# Directions:
01 - In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
02 - Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and blend thoroughly.
03 - Sift the flour and salt, then gently fold into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
04 - Shape the dough into a disc, wrap with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
05 - Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
06 - On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough to a thickness of 1/4 inch (0.5 cm).
07 - Use a boot-shaped cookie cutter to cut shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
08 - Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden. Cool completely on a wire rack.
09 - Combine powdered sugar with milk until a thick, spreadable glaze forms. Divide and tint with food coloring as desired.
10 - Spread colored icing over cooled cookies and add sprinkles if preferred. Allow icing to set completely before serving.
