08 - 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
09 - 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed
10 - 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
11 - 1 cup beef or chicken broth
12 - 2 tbsp smooth peanut butter
13 - 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
14 - 1 oz dark chocolate (70% or higher), chopped
15 - 2 tsp smoked paprika
16 - 2 tsp chili powder
17 - 1 tsp ground cumin
18 - 1 tsp dried oregano
19 - 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
20 - 1/2 tsp ground coriander
21 - 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
22 - 1.5 tsp salt
23 - 1/2 tsp black pepper

# Directions:

01 - Heat vegetable oil in a large Dutch oven or heavy pot over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned, about 6 to 8 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
02 - Add diced onion, minced garlic, red bell pepper, and jalapeño if using. Cook until vegetables soften, approximately 5 minutes.
03 - Stir in tomato paste, smoked paprika, chili powder, ground cumin, dried oregano, ground cinnamon, ground coriander, cayenne pepper if using, salt, and black pepper. Cook, stirring, for 2 minutes until fragrant.
04 - Add crushed tomatoes, drained black beans, drained kidney beans, broth, smooth peanut butter, and unsweetened cocoa powder. Stir thoroughly to blend ingredients.
05 - Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Allow to simmer uncovered for 35 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavors are well combined.
06 - Stir in chopped dark chocolate until melted and fully integrated. Adjust seasoning to taste.
07 - Ladle chili into bowls and garnish with fresh cilantro, sour cream, sliced avocado, shredded cheese, and lime wedges as desired.
